Pilates (or the Pilates method) is a series of exercises inspired by calisthenics, yoga and ballet. Pilates promotes mobility and strength of all the major muscle groups in the body in a balanced fashion, whilst also having a key focus on the deep core muscles.

Joseph Hubertus Pilates was a German-born physical trainer, writer, and inventor. He is credited with inventing and promoting the Pilates method of physical fitness. He patented a total of 26 apparatus in his lifetime

In a Pilates conference once attended, I was told that Joseph Pilates proposed his works to many who did not believe in his progressive ideas. However, with his strong will, perseverance, and dedication he proclaimed, “One day the whole world will know about the Pilates Method.”

Pilates of Hawaii was born 25 years ago with a passion to share the magic of the Pilates method and how one can find resilience and strength through such guided motion. While encouraging classic Pilates training, we also incorporate contemporary and non-traditional modalities to adapt to an individual’s needs and goals.

We are grateful everyday to be serving such a wonderful community and continue to uphold our mission to empower movement health within a comfortable and safe space. It is our gratitude, in witnessing ones positive results and changes that inspires us to love what we do here. We cherish each individual that comes through our studio.
